Field Controller
FCX2™ Commercial Solar Tracker Field Controller
The FCX 2.0 is a networked field controller, capable of managing
multiple single or dual axis solar trackers. By calculating both the solar
position, and with knowledge of tracker spacing, it is able to dispatch and
monitor tracker operational commands for optimum solar tracker field energy
harvesting. The FCX2.0 incorporates back-tracking technology for enhanced
startup and shutdown energy yield. In addition to astronomical events, FCX 2.0 is able to act on meteorological events, such as approaching storms by
using data from the integrated weather station or deployed weather monitors.
The Field Controller operates a solar tracker field on an RS 485 based Modbus, allowing it to communicate with TCX2.0 Solar Tracker Controllers. All solar tracker plant status, data and events is temporarily stored and forwarded to the Valhalla Management Server for further processing. In addition, the iPhone App (Heimdal) is available as a wireless remote control to operate the field.
The FCX2.0 incorporates the following features:
- Calculates Solar Position using NREL’s published ephemeral equation.
- Includes dual power supplies, one for TCX 2.0 Control Power, and the other for TCX 2.0 Motor Power.
- RS‐485 tracker interface using Modbus protocol.
- TCX 2.0 management, including software updates, limits controls, back‐tracking, and motor parameters.
- TCX 2.0 monitoring such as operational details and fault monitoring.
- Ethernet 10‐Base‐T network interface.
- Support to time-multiplex tracker move commands.
- Ability to issue local Stow, Clean and Operate commands.
- Anemometer interface
- GPS interface
- Integrated DC-Motor power supply 24-30V/240W, or able to operate in a field with 3-ph AC motors.
- Available in IP66 Nema‐4x Fiberglass enclosure.
- Remote control via an iPhone App.
